Spent Xmas holidays in a hotel located in a small town, less than 1 hour north of Madrid. The location offered stunning views of the mountains, and there were plenty of restaurants in the area. Convenience was key, as there was a gas station next door for car refuels and several essential shops nearby. Friendly staff provided excellent customer service, and the hotel was good value for their prices.
The hotel is under refurbishment so some areas were still a work in progress. The surroundings were relatively quiet, and there was not much night-life.

Hotel was very quiet so we were looked after by the duty manager I assume who tried very hard to do everything and did very well. Full marks however we haven't been to a restaurant before where they didn't have a cork screw! All in all a good location and a very good service and standard
Wi Fi does not work in rooms. We were offered a cable. Good coverage in lobby area though

It was surrounded by breathtaking mountains and offered stunning views. the staff was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. the room was clean and cozy, with all the necessary amenities. the breakfast was delicious, with a wide variety of options to choose from. Plus, there were plenty of nearby restaurants and shops to explore.
That the Wi-Fi was a bit slow at times.

Metropol Miraflores is a fine stylish modern hotel, with underground parking facilities (10 euros a night), which is often a necessity in Spain when traveling with a car. The town of Miraflores is an appealing little mountain resort, with lots of restaurants and bustling outdoor terraces to enjoy life just an hour away from Madrid.
Some of the upscale amenities, such as the whirlpool bath in our suite, did not function. Tv only gave access to a couple of Spanish channels. Much more troublesome was the fact the air conditioning did not work as well: on a hot summer day, mere ventilation is definitely not enough to sleep, especially considering this is recent construction which does not have the natural insulation performances of buildings up to the 18th century. As we stayed one night and enjoyed the cafés of the city until fairly late at night, we could not get the aircond fixed. The hotel was possibly trying to cut its electricity bill (there weren't that many guests staying at the hotel). We think that might be try because earlier on in Barcelona we had a similar problem at another hotel. The hotel is not located at the heart of the village, but main street is just a couple of minutes up on foot.

The bed was warm and comfortable. The room was clean and there was a Small balcony which was nice. The breakfast was good.
I really wanted a room with a bath..the lady on reception who appeared friendly told me....with booking you get a balcony not a bath...rooms with baths are double the price. The hot tub was closed as was the terrace because of the time of year. Therefore 1e were dissapointed. However as a base its fine.
